Eyelets and grommets are functional textile accessories used at cord, lace and ventilation points. Correct selection depends not only on eyelet diameter but also on fabric construction and the setting method.
Inner diameter and cord passage The cord should pass through comfortably, but an unnecessarily large opening can create unwanted visual clearance. Braid construction and cord-end finishing also affect the true passage size, so dimensions should be confirmed with samples rather than catalog values alone.
Fabric thickness and reinforcement Thin fabrics can be more prone to deformatteion or tearing around the eyelet. Depending on the application, interfacing, reinforcement fabric or an appropriate washer may be needed. With thick layers, barrel height and press settings become more important.
Choosing the finish Bright nickel, mattete nickel, black, brass tones and custom finishes determine the visual character. Besides color, confirm that the finish suits moisture, chemicals, friction and the intended care process.
Setting quality A correct eyelet can still fail when set incorrectly. Excessive pressure may crush the fabric, while insufficient pressure may allow rotation or loosening. Mattech the die to the eyelet size and verify a first-piece sample before production.
Metal accessories and skin contact For certain metal clothing accessories intended for direct and prolonged skin contact in the European market, REACH nickel-release restrictions may apply. End use and target market therefore influence matteerial and coating selection.
